Lo-Fi ("low fidelity"), contrasting with high fidelity, contains "rather low quantity of information in definition."

Unlike today's high-end products that barely exhibited the distinction between digital and analog processes, early electronic products at the infancy of the digital age had a distinct "digital" feel due to limited capabilities and speed in expressing information precisely. As a result, they seemed to present an abstract and distorted form of low-definition information.

Avatars composed of few pixels in video games of the 70s must have fascinated and inspired many players. Although the figures lack life-like details, the simplification as conveyed by the low information flow surprisingly accentuates the strength of that information. Under these constraints, the figures, images, and sounds have been elaborately designed.

"Lo-Fi" uses a matrix of servo motors to control high-volume reflections of aluminum foils under a projected light, hence creating a display similar to an analog LED monitor. The audience's viewing angle can directly alter the information they may receive, arousing in them an ambiguous perception, alternating between the digital and the analog.
